Hello. Tzabia here.

You might wonder what makes me such an expert at long-term weight loss?

First of all, I have done it myself. Twenty years ago I was heavy, struggling to find my femininity, judgmental of myself and others, filled with angst, untrusting, let’s say I had lots of hidden crevices in my mind. Then I committed to something (I save that story for my workshops and classes, but I’ll give you a hint – it wasn’t a diet) and I lost the extra 25 lbs. I had been carrying since puberty. Now at 46, I am still at my ideal weight. More than that, over the years I have learned to love and care for my body as a constant and trusted friend, despite its flaws, and I have peace and self-respect.

I place a high value on health and from that experience in my 20’s, began to see that transformation has to happen on all levels. In the years since, my personal pursuits have been focused on mastering (I like to aim high) the practices of the mind, emotion, food, soul, movement, and rest. Each plays a significant role in our quest for health, lightness and peace. So they have become the foundation of the Freedom from Dieting model.

This passion for understanding what is at the heart of health, has directed me on a professional level as well. In order to learn the art of supporting change in others, I trained as a coach through Coaches Training Institute and Coachville. The science of nutrition and the art of nourishment comes from certification as a Holistic Nutritionist, 9 years of practice as a Nutritional Consultant and 30 years of personal studies of food, its effect on us, and the practice and teaching of natural cooking. (Check out my nutritional coaching site www.foodcoach.ca). I have a degree in Physical Education with a specialty in fitness and have spent 15 years studying alternative forms of movement, including Gabrielle Roth's sacred rhythms, contact improv, authentic movement, mime, yoga and tai chi. From that I developed a personal practice and a model for free movement that I teach called Moving Space. My creativity was developed initially through my studies and work in photography, which has since lead me into other art forms, particularly collage.

If you need support to get to the root of your weight and health issues, I invite you to stay in touch through the Freedom from Dieting newsletter, blog, or join in on a workshop, teleclass or one-on-one coaching. If you have any questions, please contact me.
